Dear Friend,

There are almost 400 local rose societies in the United States which are affiliated with the American Rose Society.  Do you know that there is a local rose society near you?

I am president of the Western New York Rose Society and I would like to invite you to be our guest at any of our monthly meetings.   We regularly meet at the St. Stephens-Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 750 Wehrle Dr., Williamsville, NY, at 7:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month except December.

Your interest in roses has led you to this website.  We are a group whose purpose is to spread the love and knowledge of America’s most beloved flower, the rose.  Our rose society nurtures local interest in roses and helps others to grow roses to the best of their ability.  To that end, our meetings always include a program on rose care for the month and discussion of problems we are experiencing in the garden.  We usually offer a fine program on horticulture topics of  interest to rosarians.  These programs cover a wide variety of rose-related topics, and might include the newest varieties of hybrid tea, miniature, shrub and old-garden roses, rose photography, building a new rose bed, the latest in disease and insect protection, effective watering systems, companion plantings, landscaping and more.  Several of our members are A.R.S.-qualified Consulting Rosarians who are available to help you with your specific rose problems.

Our most popular community events are our annual rose show; our annual rose pruning demonstrations and our annual sales of large (hybrid tea, shrubs, old garden) and miniature roses.  We also have an organic fertilizer sale.  These sales take place in early spring so as to be of benefit for the up-coming growing season. Selection and price are excellent. We also have annual ‘rose days’ at several local nurseries in the late spring and early summer.  We get together for an annual dinner at a local restaurant and have summer car-pooling trips to the area rose gardens.  WNY Rose Society also hosts the New York District Rose Show and Convention on a rotating basis, taking turns with other rose societies in the state.

You are welcome as a guest at our next meeting or any meeting, and of course I hope that you will join the Western New York Rose Society as a member.  If you have any question, please call me at 716-833-5549.

We hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Lillian Stiegler, President
